Dr. Self (2019)

A guided meditation on the limits of modern gynecology and sexual healthcare.

This artwork is a video installation that invites the viewer to consider their experiences of, and
approach to, their own sexual healthcare. Instead of framing a discussion of genital and sexual
health primarily around reproduction and having children, Dr. Self guides the viewer through a
series of questions about their priorities, needs, and wants, with time between questions marked by
a rhythmic animation backed by a soothing soundtrack. Taking the form of a health-specific posthuman guided meditation, this artwork provokes the participant to consider which parts of their
sexual health may be being left unaddressed when they visit the doctor.
